A weapon I designed partly myself (it's inspired on the type of weapon that Demuth uses in SC III). I made it about 6 months ago , when I saw whuan in the Chinese movie "The Promise" . I don't know why I didn't finish it ... I really like the concept , though it probably can only be properly used in Final Fantasy worlds :) .

It consitst of several thin steel segments , that can slide over each other . So it can be used as blade (though you can't stab someone with it) , and as some sort of edged fan . Maybe to generate winds that can blow your opponent of his feet , or give the user extra jump power .

And yes , my cellphone was based on this concept :D !

Demuth's steel fan was huge! Is the scale of your design as big as that one? Very nice concept by the way. I like how when it's in the closed position, a blade can come out making it a sword/dagger.

Oh, oops...I mistook the side view of the closed version to be a blade. It's hard to tell when it's not textured :doh:

It is about 90 cm. long ... don't know how much that is in inches . It can be used as a dagger ! When closed , it has somewhat of a cutting edge because the segment is the middle is a little bit longer than the next one . And that second segment is again somewhat longer than the next one ... so you'll get a cutting edge :) ! Do you understand :p ?

Ok so 90 cm is a bit over 35 inches. That's pretty long. Oh and yes, now I see what you mean when the weapon is closed. Having the middle segments a bit longer than the outside ones does create a sort of bladed tip.

And I agree, this kind of weapon would belong in a Final Fantasy universe :)
